WedgeMetal Hidden Deck Clips - Metal Joists, 50 sq. ft. Box
WedgeMetal locks into the groove of a composite or PVC deck board and drives into a steel joist, so the finished deck shows no screw heads. The clip fastens any deck pattern, including diagonal and herringbone layouts, on framing that a wood-joist clip cannot bite into.
The screw is a 410 stainless drill-point, self-starting on 14 to 18 gauge steel, paired with a 305 stainless gusset and nylon spacer body. Not recommended for aluminum joists.

- Black coating tested to the ASTM B117 salt spray corrosion standard
- Sets a 3/16 in. (4.7 mm) board-to-board gap
- Fastener: #7 x 2 in. overall length, 0.200 in. shank, T-15 star drive
- Deck board groove needed: 1/8 in. tall x 1/4 in. deep minimum, 1/4 in. minimum material below the groove
- Built for 14 to 18 gauge steel joists; not recommended for aluminum joists
- 50 sq. ft. box: 90 clips, 90 screws and driver bits, 8 boxes per case
- At 12 in. on-centre framing, coverage drops to about 37 sq. ft. per box
Dimensions and system
WedgeMetal is part of CAMO's Universal Deck Clip system, so the same T-15 bit, CAMO Lever board-straightening tool and CAMO ClipDRIVE stand-up tool cross over to WedgeClip and Edge clips as well.
Works with grooved boards from Trex, TimberTech by AZEK, Fiberon and Deckorators.
How to install
The drill-point screw starts its own hole in 14 to 18 gauge steel, so no pilot hole is needed. Hand-drive with the included T-15 bit and a drill, or use the CAMO ClipDRIVE tool for a stand-up install across a crew. Follow CAMO's current Universal Deck Clip installation guide for joist spacing and clip placement.
Questions
Will this work on aluminum joists?
No. WedgeMetal is built for 14 to 18 gauge steel joists and is not recommended for aluminum.
I'm framing in wood, do I need this one?
No, use CAMO WedgeClip instead. WedgeMetal's drill-point screw and 410 stainless gusset are built specifically for steel framing.
Does it need a pilot hole in the steel joist?
No. The 410 stainless screw is a drill-point that starts its own hole in 14 to 18 gauge steel.
Is a 500 sq. ft. pail available?
This price list carries the 50 sq. ft. box only. Ask your Griff rep about volume pricing for larger jobs.
