Fiberon GoodLife - Composite Decking

GoodLife is Fiberon's entry-tier capped composite deck board, built on a PE (polyethylene) composite core with a cap layer on the top face only, which is why it prices closer to wood than Fiberon's fully capped Sanctuary and Symmetry lines. Grooved boards run 12, 16 and 20 ft. and take a hidden fastener for a screw-free field; square edge boards, available at 20 ft., face-screw for stairs and the deck perimeter.

Six colours split into two collections at two price points: Cabin and Cottage in the Weekender collection, and Beach House, Bungalow, Tuscan Villa and Cabana in the Escapes collection.

Capped on the top face only. The underside is an uncapped, scalloped PE composite core, not fully wrapped like Sanctuary (1-sided, smooth back) or Symmetry (2-sided capped). Choose one of those lines instead if the job needs a fully capped board.

Features and Common Uses
  • Entry-tier PE composite deck board with a cap layer on the top face only, over an uncapped, scalloped composite core
  • Grooved profile takes a hidden fastener for a screw-free field; square edge face-screws for stairs and the perimeter
  • Two collections, six colours: Weekender (Cabin, Cottage) and Escapes (Beach House, Bungalow, Tuscan Villa, Cabana)
  • Colour is capped into the board face, not a surface coating

Commonly used for:

  • Ground-level and low-clearance decks where full four-side capping isn't required
  • Budget-conscious deck rebuilds replacing old wood decking
  • Stairs and perimeter trim using square edge boards

How to Install
  1. Frame at 16 in. o.c. maximum for a standard field pattern and check that the framing is level and square before laying the first board; confirm spacing for a diagonal pattern against Fiberon's installation guide.
  2. Run grooved boards across the field and set a CAMO Edge or Universal hidden fastener clip in the groove at every joist for a screw-free finished surface.
  3. Use square edge boards with composite deck screws on stairs, picture-frame borders and the outer perimeter, where a hidden clip has nothing to grip.
  4. Leave the gap the fastener manufacturer specifies at butt joints and where boards meet a fixed structure; composite expands along its length more than across it.
  5. Do not lay GoodLife boards directly on solid blocking or foam without an air gap - only the top face is capped, so the scalloped underside needs airflow to shed moisture.

Frequently Asked Questions
Grooved or square edge - which do I need?

Grooved runs the main field with a hidden fastener for a screw-free look. Square edge is face-screwed and used for stairs, perimeter boards and picture-frame borders, where a hidden clip has nothing to grip.

What's the difference between Weekender and Escapes colours?

Weekender (Cabin, Cottage) carries a 25-year warranty. Escapes (Beach House, Bungalow, Tuscan Villa, Cabana) carries a 30-year warranty and costs more per foot. Both share the same 0.93 in. x 5.25 in. profile and 1-sided capping.

Is GoodLife capped on all four sides like Sanctuary or Symmetry?

No. GoodLife caps only the top face; the back is an uncapped, scalloped PE composite core. Choose Sanctuary (1-sided, smooth back) or Symmetry (2-sided capped) for a fully capped board.

What fasteners does GoodLife need?

CAMO or Universal hidden fasteners for grooved boards, driven into the groove at every joist. Square edge boards face-screw with a composite deck screw.

Does GoodLife need staining or sealing?

No. Colour is capped into the top face, not a surface coating. An occasional rinse with soap and water is all it needs.
