Turnbuckle Concrete Form Aligner, Bent Plate
A turnbuckle form aligner sits in a 2x4 kicker brace and turns to push or pull a vertical form into plumb. Nail one plate to the form and the brace lumber to the other end, then rotate the turnbuckle to fine-tune the position before and during the pour. The aligner adjusts from 37 in. to 42 in., about 5 in. of travel.
The 3 x 5 in. bent plate grips uneven surfaces and follows curved forms. Its 15/16 in. centre hole takes a 3/4 in. or 7/8 in. round steel stake when you brace from the ground up.
No load rating is published for this aligner. What it can hold depends on the brace lumber, nailing, staking and form design, so size and space braces for your job.

How to Install
- Lay out braces at the spacing your form design calls for. Closer spacing on tall walls, at corners and at pour points.
- Fit the 2x4 brace to the aligner and nail through the plate holes so the lumber bears tight against the angle.
- Nail to a ground plate or drive a 3/4 in. or 7/8 in. round steel stake through the 15/16 in. centre hole into firm ground.
- Nail the other end to a stud or waler on the form, not to the sheathing alone.
- Turn the turnbuckle to push or pull the form into plumb, checking with a level. Recheck alignment during the pour and readjust as needed.
- After stripping, scrape off concrete and keep the threads clean so the turnbuckle turns freely next time.
Form aligners are an adjustment device, not a rated structural component. As the Dayton Superior A27 data sheet puts it, safe working load is limited by the lumber, nailing and staking. Formwork and bracing for structural pours must be designed and checked by a qualified person per local code and WorkSafeBC requirements. Source: Turnbuckle form aligner data sheet, reference (PDF).
Frequently Asked Questions
How much weight can a form aligner hold?
It has no published load rating. Holding capacity depends on the brace lumber, the nailing, the stake or anchor and the form design. Have your formwork bracing designed for the pour, and don't use the aligner as shoring.
Bent plate or flat plate?
The bent plate grips uneven surfaces and follows curved forms. A flat plate suits flat, level surfaces. This listing is the bent plate.
What lumber does it take?
2x4 brace lumber, nailed to the aligner at the top or bottom of the brace.
Can I stake it straight into the ground?
Yes. The 15/16 in. centre hole takes a 3/4 in. or 7/8 in. round steel stake.
Is it sold individually?
Yes, priced each. Contact us for contractor quantities.
