The Simpson Strong-Tie LT2314 is a top-flange hanger sized for a single 2-5/16 in. x 14 in. I-joist, such as a 14 in. TJI 230. The top flange hooks over the header for fast placement, and the stirrup laterally supports the joist's top flange, so no web stiffeners are needed for standard installs.

How to Install
- Confirm the header can take the fasteners in Simpson's table. Minimum solid header thickness for the table loads is 1-3/4 in.
- Hook the top flange over the header at the joist location so the hanger sits tight to the header face.
- Drive all specified nails into the top flange and face of the header. Use 10d x 1-1/2 in. nails when the header is an I-joist.
- Drop the I-joist into the hanger, bearing fully on the seat.
- Drive one or two screws up through the seat into the joist's bottom flange. Add the optional triangle-hole nails only if extra uplift is needed, with web stiffeners installed.

Does the LT2314 fit a 14 in. TJI 230?
Yes. It is sized for a 2-5/16 in. x 14 in. I-joist, which is the TJI 230 at 14 in. depth.
Do I need web stiffeners?
Not for a standard install. The stirrup supports the joist's top flange. Web stiffeners are needed only if you use the optional uplift nailing.
Can I bend it for a skewed joist?
No. The hanger is fully die-formed and can't be modified, but it will take a skew of up to 5°.
Can it be used on sloped joists?
Up to 1/4:12 with no reduction. Between 1/4:12 and 1/2:12, Simpson's tests show about a 10% reduction in ultimate strength; check with the joist manufacturer.
