HUS210 Heavy Double-Shear Face-Mount Hanger, 2x10
The HUS210 is a heavy U-shaped face-mount hanger for a 2x10 joist, made from 16-gauge galvanized steel. Joist nails drive at an angle through the joist into the header (double-shear nailing), which carries more load with fewer nails than straight face-nailing.
Not for I-joists: Simpson does not allow double-shear hangers on I-joists. Use an IUS, ITS or MIU hanger for those.

How to Install
- Set the hanger on the header face with the seat at the joist bottom and fill the header holes with 0.162 in. x 3-1/2 in. nails.
- Place the joist tight to the header in the seat.
- Drive the joist nails at an angle through the joist and into the header. Straight-driven joist nails will not reach the table loads.
- Use every specified fastener; skipping holes reduces the allowable load.

Which nails do I need?
Header: 0.162 in. x 3-1/2 in. Joist: 0.162 in. x 3-1/2 in. (double-shear). Use the exact sizes Simpson specifies; a shorter or thinner nail lowers the allowable load. Simpson's catalogue table lists the load for each nailing option.
Can I use this on I-joists?
No. Simpson does not permit double-shear hangers with I-joists. Use an IUS or MIU face-mount I-joist hanger instead.
Can I use it on a pressure-treated deck?
Not this finish. G90 galvanizing is for dry, interior framing. For preservative-treated lumber or exterior exposure, Simpson calls for ZMAX, hot-dip galvanized or stainless steel connectors and matching fasteners. Ask us about the ZMAX or stainless version.
