The IUS1.81/9.5 is Simpson's hybrid face-mount hanger for a 1-3/4 in. x 9-1/2 in. I-joist. The I-joist snaps into the seat, so no joist nails are needed; the hanger nails to the header only.
Sized for one I-joist width and depth. Check your I-joist flange width against the model before ordering; the wrong width will not seat.

How to Install
- Confirm the header can take the specified nails from the table.
- Nail the hanger to the header with the locator tabs set on top; do not overspread the hanger.
- Push the I-joist down into the seat until it snaps in. The side flanges should contact the joist's top chord.

Which nails do I need?
Header: (8) 0.148 in. x 3 in. Joist: none (snap-in seat). Use the exact sizes Simpson specifies; a shorter or thinner nail lowers the allowable load. Simpson's catalogue table lists the load for each nailing option.
Does it need web stiffeners?
Check your I-joist maker's details and the catalogue table. Simpson designed the IUS to seat the I-joist without joist nails; web stiffener requirements come from the I-joist manufacturer.
Can I use it on a pressure-treated deck?
Not this finish. G90 galvanizing is for dry, interior framing. For preservative-treated lumber or exterior exposure, Simpson calls for ZMAX, hot-dip galvanized or stainless steel connectors and matching fasteners. Ask us about the ZMAX or stainless version.
