Strong-Drive SDWS Timber Screw, E-Coat (Interior)

The SDWS Timber screw is a 0.220 in. structural wood screw for interior timber work: splines, lap joints, ledgers and log-home stacking. The SawTooth point and serrated thread drive without predrilling in most wood and reduce splitting.

E-coat is for interior use. For exterior or treated lumber, use the double-barrier SDWS instead.

Features and Common Uses
  • 0.220 in. shank, 3 in. thread
  • T40 6-lobe drive, 0.760 in. low-profile washer head
  • SawTooth point, no predrill in most applications
  • E-coat electrocoating for interior use

Commonly used for:

  • Log-home stacking and timber framing
  • Surface splines and lap joints
  • Interior ledgers and beams

Frequently Asked Questions
Can I use it outside?

No. E-coat is for interior use; choose the double-barrier SDWS for exterior or treated wood.

Do I predrill?

Not in most applications. The SawTooth point and serrated thread start the screw and reduce splitting.

12 in. or 15 in.?

Pick the length that passes through the side member and puts the full 3 in. thread into the main member. For stacked logs or timbers, that usually means one course plus thread embedment.
