King Chain Round Swivel Eye Bolt Snap
A bolt snap has a sliding bolt gate rather than a hinged one, so the gate stays in line with the body and does not snag. It is the fitting used on leads, straps and light chain where the connection gets made and broken many times a day.
Spring snaps carry no rated working load. Where a connection carries real load, or where failure would matter, use a shackle or other rated hardware instead.
- Four eye sizes: 3/8, 1/2, 5/8 and 3/4 in.
- The swivel eye lets the snap turn instead of winding up the chain or rope behind it
- On anything that moves, that is the difference between a line that lies flat and one that kinks itself into knots
- Sliding bolt gate stays in line with the body and does not snag
- Sized by the eye, so match it to the webbing, rope or chain going through it
Questions
What size do I need?
Size by the eye against whatever passes through it. A 5/8 in. eye takes 5/8 in. webbing or a comparable ring.
Why a bolt gate rather than a spring hook?
The bolt slides along the body instead of hinging out, so there is nothing to catch on webbing or fabric.
What does the swivel do?
It lets the snap rotate so the lead or chain behind it does not wind up and kink.
Is it load rated?
No. Bolt snaps are convenience fittings, not rigging hardware.
