Frequently Asked Questions
What is HardieTrim used for?

Window and door casing, corner boards, frieze and rake trim, fascia, light blocks, column wraps and decorative scrollwork, as an alternative to solid wood trim.

What's the difference between 4/4 and 5/4?

4/4 is 3/4 in. actual thickness. 5/4 is 1 in. actual thickness, for a heavier, more substantial look and deeper shadow line. Both are the same width and price per thickness tier shown at checkout.

What's the difference between Rustic Grain and Smooth?

Rustic Grain has a woodgrain texture that reads as rough-sawn cedar. Smooth is a flat, painted-wood look. Both are the same board size and price.

Can I get this in a factory color?

Not on this listing, it ships Primed for Paint only. Contact us to request a ColorPlus quote.

What nails do I need?

A 16-gauge, minimum 2 in. long, corrosion-resistant finish nail, spaced no more than 16 in. o.c., kept at least 1/2 in. from edges and 1 in. from ends. Stainless steel fasteners are required in coastal regions. Source: James Hardie HardieTrim Boards Product Data Sheet (HZ5, PDF).

How much does one board cover?

About 0.94 sq. ft. per linear ft. face area at the full 11.25 in. width, since trim board is installed flat rather than overlapped like lap siding.
