Irwin Vise-Grip GrooveLock V-Jaw Pliers
Press and slide button sets the jaw instead of lifting and shuffling the pivot, so the adjustment happens with the plier already on the work and one hand still free.
The ratcheting groove system gives more positions than a conventional groove joint plier, which means the jaws sit closer to parallel on whatever they are holding. The V jaw seats round work on four faces so it turns rather than slips.
IRWIN backs these with a lifetime limited warranty against defects in material and workmanship.

Questions
How is this different from a normal groove joint plier?
The button. A conventional plier needs the jaws lifted clear and re-seated to change position. GrooveLock slides while it is still on the work.
Which size do I need?
The 10 in. covers most household plumbing. Step to the 12 in. for larger pipe and seized fittings, where handle length is the torque.
V jaw or straight jaw?
V for pipe, tube and round nuts. IRWIN makes straight and smooth jaw GrooveLock pliers as separate models for flat work and for finished fittings you do not want toothmarks on.
