Onward 10 in. Screw Hook and Strap Hinge
Hangs a gate on a pin rather than on a knuckle. The hook screws into the post and the strap drops over it, which means you can lift the gate off without unscrewing anything and hang it again in seconds.
This is the 10 in. strap. Fit two on a light gate and three on anything tall.

How to install
- Drill a pilot hole in the post and wind the hook in. Pilot it properly, since a dry hook in hardwood will shear before it seats.
- Fit the strap to the gate first, then hang the gate on the hooks and check the swing before final tightening.
- Point the top hook down and the bottom hook up on a gate you want to be hard to lift off. It is the simplest anti-theft measure there is.
- If the gate drops over time, wind the top hook further into the post to pull it back square.

Can I take the gate off?
Yes, lift it straight off the hooks. That is the main advantage of this hinge.
How do I stop someone lifting my gate off?
Reverse one hook so it points the opposite way to the other. The gate then cannot come off in one movement.
My gate has dropped. Can I fix it?
Wind the top hook further into the post. This hinge is adjustable after fitting, which is why it is the usual choice on timber gates.
How many do I need?
Two on a light gate, three on a tall or heavy one.
What size hook do I need?
