  • Size: 4 in.
  • Material: solid wall PVC, CSA certified
  • Connection: solvent weld, PVC solvent cement
  • Pipe type: not Schedule 40

Certified to CSA requirements for building sewer and drainage use. Confirm cleanout placement and pipe type against your local plumbing code before install.

How to Install
  1. Dry fit the cleanout to the 4 in. pipe and confirm it sits where the access point needs to be.
  2. Cut the pipe square and deburr the end, then wipe the pipe and the fitting socket clean and dry.
  3. Apply PVC primer, then PVC solvent cement, to the pipe end and the inside of the socket.
  4. Push the pipe fully into the socket with a quarter turn and hold it for several seconds so the joint does not push back out.
  5. Let the joint cure before backfilling or testing, then fit the plug so the cleanout is closed.
  6. Keep the plug location reachable after backfill, and follow your local plumbing code for cleanout placement.

Follow the solvent cement maker's cure times for your temperature and pipe size.

Frequently Asked Questions
Does the cleanout come with a plug?

No. SKU 6010020 is the 4 in. cleanout only. The matching 4 in. plug is SKU 0671092, sold as the second option on this page. Add both for a complete cleanout.

What do I use to connect it to the pipe?

PVC solvent cement. The connections are solvent-weld, so primer and cement go on the pipe and the fitting socket the same way as any other PVC joint.

Is this Schedule 40 pipe?

No. This is CSA certified solid wall PVC, not Schedule 40. Check that your drain or sewer pipe is the same type before you cut in the cleanout.

Can I use it on drain tile and landscape drainage?

Yes. It is CSA certified for building sewer and for building and landscape drainage.

Can I buy the plug on its own?

Yes. Pick Cleanout Plug in the Style option if you only need a replacement plug for an existing 4 in. cleanout.
