Floor screws are coarse-thread, flat-head wood screws used to fasten subfloor and flooring to joists and framing, and to help eliminate squeaks. Sold by the pound in lengths from 1 in. to 3 in.

Choose a length that passes through the subfloor and bites well into the framing below. Pre-drill near edges and in hardwood to help prevent splitting.
