KingCord #18 x 525 ft. Orange Twisted Mason's Line
Mason's line for setting courses level and straight. Orange reads clearly against block, brick and dirt, which is the whole point of a bright line: you sight along it, so you need to see it at both ends of a long run.
Safe working load is 11 lb. That is not a limitation in practice, because a mason's line only ever carries its own tension between two blocks.
- 11 lb. (5 kg) safe working load
- Twisted polypropylene rather than natural fibre
- Resists abrasion, UV and moisture
- A line left tensioned across a wall overnight in the rain will still be true in the morning, where natural fibre stretches wet and a stretched line is a crooked wall
- 525 ft. spool
- Model 344071BG
Questions
What does #18 mean?
It is the standard twine size number for mason's line. #18 is the usual size for bricklaying and the one most line blocks and twine holders are made for.
Why polypropylene and not nylon?
Polypropylene holds its length when it gets wet. Nylon stretches more, and stretch in a line means a course that is not straight. Nylon is stronger, which matters less here.
How much can it hold?
11 lb. safe working load. It is a layout line, not a rope.
Will the colour fade?
It has UV resistance, but any bright line left out for a season dulls. Replace it when you can no longer sight it clearly at distance.
Does it work with standard line blocks?
Yes. #18 is the size line blocks and twine reels are built around.
