TimberTech Prime Composite Decking 5/4x6

Prime boards run a straight wood grain finish, a subtler line pattern than a busy cathedral grain, in tones pulled from natural wood. The core is a wood fibre and recycled polymer blend, wrapped on all four sides in a wood fibre free cap, so nothing needs sanding, staining or sealing once it is down.

It comes in two profiles. Grooved boards have a scalloped underside and pair with the EDGELoc hidden fastener, so no screw heads show on the field of the deck. They come in 12, 16 and 20 ft. Square shouldered boards have square edges and screw through the face, typically with TOPLoc colour matched screws. They come in 16 and 20 ft. Use grooved across the main deck and square shouldered for the outside boards and picture framing.

Care

An occasional scrub and rinse is enough for the whole life of the deck. Use TimberTech DeckCleaner or mild soap and water. Never sand, stain or seal it.

How to install

Grooved boards are scalloped underneath and built for the EDGELoc hidden fastener, a collated clip strip with preset screws that also sets a consistent gap between boards. Cortex plugs are not compatible with this profile, so do not substitute.

Square shouldered boards are screwed through the face, typically with TOPLoc colour matched screws, at the outer edge of the deck or in picture framing.

Joist spacing, gapping and fastener spacing change with the application, so follow TimberTech's current installation guide for EDGE composite decking. That guide governs if you ever need to make a warranty claim.

Questions

What lengths does square shouldered come in?
16 and 20 ft, in both Prime colours. Grooved covers 12, 16 and 20 ft.

Can I use Cortex on the grooved boards?
No. TimberTech does not consider Cortex compatible with any scalloped profile. Use the EDGELoc hidden fastener instead.

Does it need staining or sealing?
No. Wash it occasionally with soap and water or TimberTech DeckCleaner.

How is Prime different from Prime+?
Prime runs a straight wood grain finish rather than the vivid blended colour of Prime+, and its square shouldered boards are stocked in both 16 and 20 ft here, not 20 ft only.

Can I use it for framing?
No. These are surface boards and still need a code compliant frame underneath.

What trim matches?
TimberTech Prime fascia and riser in the same two colours. They are listed together as a separate product.
