Diablo Metal Demon Drill Bits for Metal
Metal Demon is Diablo's high-speed steel twist bit for drilling mild, hardened and stainless steel with one bit. A 130-degree hybrid split point starts without walking, and Diablo's Thermal Shield coating on the tip holds up to the heat that dulls ordinary bits in stainless.
Sizes run from 1/16 in. to 1/2 in. The four smallest come as 2-packs; the rest are single bits. From 11/64 in. up the shank has three flats so it won't spin in the chuck, and from 13/32 in. up it is reduced to fit a 3/8 in. chuck.
Not for drilling out broken taps or extractors. Hardened tool steel needs a carbide bit.

Will it drill stainless steel?
Yes. Metal Demon is rated for mild, hardened and stainless steel. Keep the speed down and use cutting oil in stainless.
Is there a hex-shank version?
No. Diablo makes Metal Demon with a straight or 3-flat shank only. The flats stop it spinning in a keyed or keyless chuck.
Does it fit a 3/8 in. chuck?
Yes. Sizes 13/32 in. to 1/2 in. have a reduced shank for 3/8 in. chucks.
Is it cobalt?
No. Diablo makes it from high-grade high-speed steel with a coated tip, not a cobalt blend.
