Eva-Last Pioneer Bamboo PVC Composite Fascia & Riser Boards 12-ft
These are the trim boards that finish a Pioneer deck. Fascia covers the rim board around the outside, riser covers the vertical face of each stair. Both are the same reinforced bamboo foamed-PVC as the deck boards, in the same three colours, so the edge of the deck matches the surface of it.
Fascia is 0.59 in. by 9.842 in. Riser is 0.551 in. by 7.244 in. Both come in 12 ft only. Neither is load bearing, so they are face-fixed with colour-matched trim screws rather than clipped, and they need support behind them at 12 in. centres.
Features and Common Uses
- Same material, colour and wear layer as Pioneer deck boards, so edges match the surface
- Fascia hides the rim board and the joist ends behind it
- Riser closes the vertical face of a stair and keeps debris out from under the tread
- 50 year residential warranty, the same as the deck boards
- Cuts and fixes with ordinary tools, no clips or special fasteners
| Colour | Goodfellow Code | How it reads |
|---|---|---|
| Barrel Oak | CEDAR #81 | A sun-warmed tan with open knots and swirling grain running the length of the board. |
| Natural Ipe | MAHOGANY #82 | Deep chocolate brown shot through with reddish highlights, the way real ipe looks a season after it is laid. |
| Weathered Ash | SAND #64 | A cool slate grey with silver undertones and fine straight grain, close to driftwood that has had a few winters on it. |
Commonly used for:
- Wrapping the rim board around a deck perimeter
- Closing stair risers on a composite stair
- Facing a bench, planter or step built into the deck
- Skirting a raised deck down to grade

How to Install
- Check there is continuous backing behind the board, with support at 12 in. centres. Neither profile carries load.
- Cut to length with a fine-tooth carbide blade, wearing an N95 mask and eye protection.
- Pre-drill and countersink every fixing. Keep fasteners at least 30 mm from any edge.
- Drive colour-matched trim screws, stopping as soon as the head seats.
- Leave an end gap for thermal movement, about 0.04 mm per metre per degree Celsius, and take the figure from the installation guide's table.

Trim details and gap tables are in the Eva-Last Pioneer Decking Installation Guide (PDF). Cutting this board releases glass fibre particulate, so wear an N95 mask and eye protection.
Frequently Asked Questions
What is the difference between fascia and riser?
Fascia is the wider board, 9.842 in., and wraps the rim around the outside of the deck. Riser is narrower at 7.244 in. and closes the vertical face of a stair. Both are 12 ft and both are trim, neither carries load.
Can I use fascia as a deck board?
No. At 0.59 in. thick it is not structural and it has no grooves for clips. Use the Pioneer grooved deck board for the walking surface.
Do I use hidden clips on these?
No. Fascia and riser are face-fixed with colour-matched trim screws. Pre-drill and countersink each one, and stay 30 mm back from the edges.
Do the colours match the deck boards exactly?
Yes, they are the same three colours off the same print and wear layer. Order the trim in the same colour as the decking and it matches.
How many do I need?
Measure the perimeter you are wrapping and divide by 12 ft, then add a board for cuts and corners. For stairs, one riser board covers roughly two standard-width steps.
Can I cut these to a narrower width?
You can rip fascia down, but cut the finished edge so it faces away from view where possible, since a ripped edge exposes the core rather than the printed wear layer. Wear an N95 mask when cutting.
