Frequently Asked Questions
Which size should I buy for dovetails?

The 1/2 in. is the most common all-purpose size for dovetail and joinery paring; the 1 in. is better for wider stock removal and chopping.

Can I strike these with a metal hammer?

No. Use a wooden or plastic mallet, or hand pressure. The polypropylene handle is rated for mallet use, not a steel hammer.

Are narrower or wider sizes available?

Yes. This listing now includes a 1/4 in. width. Marples also makes 3/8 in., 1-1/4 in. and 1-1/2 in. versions of this same chisel, which are not carried under this listing.
