Onward 6-1/2 in. Steel Utility Pull

A utility pull is the plain handle used on shed doors, gates, hatches and toolboxes. No latch, no mechanism, just something to grip that is screwed on properly.

Six and a half inches is long enough to grab with a gloved hand, which is the practical difference between this and a cabinet pull.

  • Two finishes: black (49FBV) and galvanized (49GAV)
  • Choose galvanized for anything continuously exposed, since it is a thicker coating than plating and does not wear through where hands touch it
  • Steel
  • 6-1/2 in.
  • It is a pull, not a latch
How to install
  • Fix into framing timber rather than into cladding alone. A pull screwed to a thin board rips out the first time the door sticks.
  • Set it at a comfortable height and clear of the latch, so a hand on the pull is not fouling the catch.
  • On a door that gets pulled hard, bolt through rather than screwing.
  • Use every screw hole.
Questions

Which finish should I choose?
Galvanized for anything continuously outdoors. Black is a painted finish and will wear at the grip.

Are screws included?
Check the pack. Where they are not, use screws long enough to reach framing timber.

Can I use it on a metal door?
It is designed for timber. Fixing to metal needs bolts or the right sheet metal fasteners.

Is it a latch?
No, it is a handle only. Pair it with a hasp, barrel bolt or gate latch.
