Onward 6 in. Ring Bolt with Nut
Threaded shank with a ring formed at one end, fitted through a hole and secured with a nut on the far side. Because it goes through the material rather than screwing into it, a ring bolt is far stronger than an eye screw of the same size.
A through-bolted ring is only as good as what is behind it. Use a washer or a backing plate so the nut does not pull into soft timber under load.

How to install
- Drill through and fit the bolt so the ring sits where the pull will come from.
- Use a washer or backing plate under the nut. Without one the nut crushes into timber and the whole fixing goes slack.
- Align the ring with the direction of pull. A ring loaded sideways bends open.
- Check the nut after the first load and retighten. Timber compresses and the fixing settles.

Yes. A washer is not, and you should use one.
Is it stronger than an eye screw?
Considerably. A ring bolt goes right through the material and is held by a nut; an eye screw only holds by its thread in the timber.
What load will it take?
No working load limit is published for this fitting. In timber, the fixing and the backing govern the capacity rather than the bolt. Do not use it overhead.
Can I load it sideways?
Try not to. A ring pulled off its axis bends open and does not recover.
