Simpson Strong-Tie CDT10S Manual Dispensing Tool for 10 oz Adhesive Cartridges & Caulking Tubes

The CDT10S is the manual gun Simpson Strong-Tie builds for its 10 oz. single-cartridge anchoring adhesives, including SET-3G, AT-3G and ET-3G. Anchoring epoxy is far thicker than caulk, and a hardware-store caulking gun either stalls on it or flexes until the frame bends. The CDT10S runs a 26:1 drive through a steel carriage, so the cartridge empties at a steady rate instead of in surges.

Double-gripping plates take the load on the plunger rod rather than a single plate, which is the part that usually wears out first on a gun used all day. It also accepts any standard 10 oz. caulking tube, so it does not sit idle between anchoring jobs.

This is a 10 oz. single-cartridge tool only. The 22 oz. and 56 oz. cartridges need a larger dispenser, and the mixing nozzle comes with the adhesive rather than with the gun.

Features and Common Uses
  • 26:1 drive ratio, which is what lets it push cold or high-viscosity anchoring epoxy at a controlled rate
  • Steel carriage rather than pressed sheet, so the frame does not spring under load
  • Double-gripping plates spread the load on the plunger rod and last longer than a single-plate mechanism
  • Built for repeated daily dispensing rather than occasional use
  • Takes standard 10 oz. caulking and sealant tubes as well as adhesive cartridges

Commonly used for:

  • Setting threaded rod and rebar dowels with SET-3G or AT-3G
  • Anchoring sill plates, holdowns and post bases into concrete
  • Rebar doweling for slab and wall extensions
  • General caulking and sealant work between anchoring jobs

Simpson's 10 oz. anchoring adhesives ship as coaxial cartridges of roughly 8.5 to 9.5 fl. oz. and all seat in this tool. Larger 22 oz. and 56 oz. cartridges do not. Check the adhesive's own data for cure times, hole preparation and load values.

How to Use
  1. Cut or puncture the cartridge seal as the adhesive's instructions describe, then fit the mixing nozzle that came with the adhesive. The gun does not include one.
  2. Pull the plunger rod fully back, drop the cartridge in nose first and seat it flat in the carriage.
  3. Squeeze the first portion of a two-part adhesive into waste until the colour through the nozzle is uniform. Anything dispensed before that is unmixed and will not cure to strength.
  4. Fill the hole from the back and withdraw the nozzle as it fills, so no air pocket is left under the adhesive.
  5. Press the release at the rear of the tool the moment you stop squeezing, or the cartridge carries on flowing. Wipe the carriage and rod before anything sets on them.

Cured epoxy on the plunger rod is the usual reason a dispensing tool starts slipping. Sixty seconds with a rag at the end of the day is what makes the difference between a tool that lasts and one that does not.

Frequently Asked Questions
Can I use it as a regular caulking gun?

Yes. It takes any standard 10 oz. caulking or sealant tube.

Will it fit a 22 oz. cartridge?

No. This tool is for 10 oz. single cartridges only. For 22 oz. cartridges you need Simpson's EDT22S or another 22 oz. dispenser.

Does a mixing nozzle come with it?

No. Simpson supplies the mixing nozzle with the adhesive cartridge, not with the gun. Keep spares on hand, since a nozzle that has cured cannot be reused.

Is it the right tool for SET-3G?

Yes. SET-3G, AT-3G and ET-3G in the 10 oz. cartridge all seat in this tool.

Why does it cost more than a hardware-store caulking gun?

The 26:1 drive, the steel carriage and the double-gripping plates. Anchoring epoxy is thick enough that a light gun stalls, flexes or strips its rod, and a stalled gun part-way down a hole is a failed anchor.

Can I dispense it in cold weather?

The tool is unaffected by cold. The adhesive is the limit, so check its data sheet for the minimum base-material temperature. AT-3G is the one Simpson formulates for cold and damp conditions.
