SUR26-2 Right-Skewed Joist Hanger, double 2x6 or 2x8
The SUR26-2 is a right-skewed U-shaped hanger for a double 2x6 or 2x8 joist meeting the header at 45 degrees. Obround nail holes on the acute side let you drive nails parallel to the joist instead of fighting the angle.
Skewed right only. For the opposite direction you need the SUL26-2; these hangers cannot be bent to change direction. They accommodate a 40 to 50 degree skew.

How to Install
- Check the skew direction against Simpson's illustration before you nail: the SUR skews right and the SUL skews left.
- Fill all round and obround header holes with the specified nails.
- The joist end can be square or bevel cut; push it tight into the seat.
- Fill the joist holes. Triangle holes, where present, add uplift capacity.

Which nails do I need?
Header: 16d common (0.162 in. x 3-1/2 in.). Joist: 16d x 2-1/2 in. (0.162 in. x 2-1/2 in.). Use the exact sizes Simpson specifies; a shorter or thinner nail lowers the allowable load. Simpson's catalogue table lists the load for each nailing option.
Can I bend it to the other side?
No. Simpson says these hangers cannot be modified. Order the opposite-hand model instead.
Can I use it on a pressure-treated deck?
Not this finish. G90 galvanizing is for dry, interior framing. For preservative-treated lumber or exterior exposure, Simpson calls for ZMAX, hot-dip galvanized or stainless steel connectors and matching fasteners. Ask us about the ZMAX or stainless version.
