The Titen Turbo is Simpson Strong-Tie’s blue screw anchor for fastening into concrete, concrete block, brick and stone. A channel runs between the threads to give drilling dust somewhere to go, so the screw is much less likely to bind, strip or snap on the way in, which is where concrete screws usually give trouble.
This is the 1/4 in. diameter, available in lengths from 1-1/4" to 6" and sold 100 per box. It drills with a standard 3/16 in. carbide bit and drives with a 5/16 in. hex socket in a cordless drill or impact driver. There is no need to clean the hole first.
Best suited to door tracks, handrail brackets, shelving standards and anything carrying real load. For dry interior use only.

Values include a 5:1 safety factor and assume an 8 in. minimum wall. In concrete the steel itself holds a good deal more: 2,640 lb. in tension and 720 lb. in shear.
How to Install
- Drill with a 3/16 in. carbide bit, going about 1/2 in. deeper than the screw needs to sit so drilling dust can settle below it. There is no need to clean the hole. Do not drill oversize, or the threads will have less material to grip.
- Hold the fixture over the hole and put the screw through it.
- Tighten with a cordless drill or impact driver and a 5/16 in. hex socket. Stop as soon as the head seats against the fixture. Too much torque can crack a hardened screw.

No. Use a standard 3/16 in. carbide drill bit. There is no matched bit to buy.
What size socket do I need?
A 5/16 in. hex socket. It also comes in the Titen Turbo installation kit (TNTINSTALLKIT).
Can these be used outdoors?
No. The blue Titen Turbo is for dry interior locations only. For outdoor, damp or corrosive work, use a stainless-steel or galvanized anchor instead.
Do I have to blow the dust out of the hole first?
No. The channel between the threads gives drilling dust somewhere to go, so it cannot obstruct the thread. Clearing the hole with compressed air gives slightly better results but is not required.
How deep do I drill?
Drill about 1/2 in. deeper than the screw needs to go, so drilling dust can settle below it. Minimum hole depth is 2-1/4 in. and standard embedment is 1-3/4 in.
Can they be removed and reused?
They come out cleanly, which suits bracing, formwork and fixtures that may be relocated. Driving a screw back into the same hole is not recommended, since the threads will have less material to grip.
Will they work in hollow concrete block?
Yes. In hollow block at 1-1/4 in. embedment they hold 117 lb. in tension. In grouted block at 2 in. embedment that rises to 393 lb..
