Task - 18" High-Leverage Bolt Cutter with No Slip Grip - 04T25424

This 18 in. bolt cutter uses a compound, high-leverage jaw action so two hands on the long handles can shear through mild-steel bolts, chain links and padlock shackles that ordinary hand tools can't touch.

The jaws are chrome molybdenum steel, a tougher and more wear-resistant alloy than plain carbon steel, and the handles carry a no-slip grip so the cut stays controlled under load.

Cutting capacity depends on hardness, not just diameter. A hardened shackle or grade-8 bolt resists this size of cutter even where a mild-steel bolt of the same diameter would shear cleanly, which is why this 18 in. cutter is built for mild-steel bolts, rod and chain rather than hardened security stock.

Features and Common Uses
  • 18 in. overall length gives two-handed compound leverage for cutting through bolts, chain and shackles
  • Chrome molybdenum steel jaws hold an edge and resist chipping better than plain carbon steel
  • No-slip handle grips keep hands from sliding under the load of a hard cut

Commonly used for:

  • Cutting mild-steel bolts, rod and chain to length
  • Removing seized or unwanted padlocks and cable locks
  • General demolition and site clean-up where fasteners need to be cut rather than unscrewed

Frequently Asked Questions
Will this cut a hardened padlock shackle?

Not reliably. Hardened shackles resist bolt cutters by design; this tool is sized for mild-steel bolts, rod and standard chain, not hardened security shackles.

Do I need two hands?

Yes. The compound jaw action is built around two-handed leverage on the full 18 in. handle length; that's what gives it the cutting force a smaller single-hand cutter doesn't have.
